Last Year's Results of the West Country Shorthorn Bull Sale The sale was a huge success. 29 bulls and 28 open yearling females sold. Buyers were from Ontario, Manitoba, British Columbia, Alberta and U.S.A. The bulls averaged $2500, with the heifers averaging $1500. After a great dinner of roast beef, nearly 180 people crowded into the sale barn and the bidding was brisk. Volume buyer was Jim Boway from Sundre, Alberta. Jim and his family took home a great young son of Eionmor Highlander 90P, as well as 11 yearling heifers. Carman Kyle of Ontario took home 5 yearling heifers. Days on Feed 97 days #'s of Feed / # of Gain 7.34 lbs. Average Daily Gain 3.79 lbs.         These heifers were slaughtered at Cargill Foods in High River. The results were 2 prime, 8 triple AAA, and 1 double AA. They averaged          $ 1133.00 each, or $ .84/lb. live. on Nov. 16, 2009 35 Steers (2009) at Western Feedlots, Strathmore AB  Weight In (Steers) 771 lbs. Weight Out 1340 lbs. Gain  569 lbs.  Days on Feed 112 days #'s of Feed / # of Gain 4.97 lbs. Average Daily Gain 5.08 lbs.          These steers were slaughtered at Cargill Foods in High River.
